This film made based on the Laskar Pelangi book written by Andrea Hirata. Andrea Hirata wrote the book based on his experience when lived in Belitong. The book is very sell well and become best seller book; so many people think that it will be good if it can be made into a good film. When the movie release, the response from the audience is very good, many people from children to adults watch this film. And it lasted long in many theaters in Indonesia.

This movie tells about Ikal’s life in Belitong with his friends named Laskar Pelangi. They come from a poor family, they go to poor school but they become great students with great teachers. In my opinion there are three scenes in this film that very good, which are when the students with their parents in their first day school, and the teachers wait worried for one more students or they can not study at all, then in the last minute come Harun, the special student who save they all. So they still can go to school to study and make friends. Second scene is when their principal dies. It is very sad that make spirit of students down and also their teacher, Bu Mus. But because they are great students, so they realize that they still have to study, they study by themselves in the school with Lintang help them, the brilliant student in the class. Last is when Lintang, the one who become the first student and the one who always tries to come first in school days, have to live first without finish his junior high because his father dies. He has to take care his three sisters and support their life. That little young boy must carry the ball that not easy enough for him. So he say good bye to all his friends.
