Comment on the play

This play is a kind of modern play. This play tells about a love story boy meets girl or more exactly boy tries very hard to meet girl but is too busy to find her. Then there is impossibility, a relationship to stay in a world without gap and time. Meanwhile they have to live in sea of numbers.

Falk Richter, playwright of Electronic City, is a multitalented person, he does not only write and perform plays, but he also gives interview and publishes his works which reveal objurgating against noeliberalism and globalization within. He is a contemporary critic who always struggle and think global. He always wants the better world. The manuscript itself is not like the manuscript commonly because the clear concept of characters only Tom and Joy, the other without identity, anonymous.

The rare thing I found when I watched this play, that there was three narrators who also played in the play, two women and one man. The setting itself is simple and using a screen for background. In the screen itself, it is used to show setting for example when in airplane, apartment etc, so they just put some things in front of it. And when they change the setting, it also include in a play as a scene. So, many times I got confuse actually when watching this play. And everybody in the theater seems involved in this play include the audience. And also there was a three minutes break, as if we watched a film shooting. But overall I think this is a good play although I need to think hard to get what the point is. So, in my opinion this is not a simply play for pleasure because we have to be very serious in watching this play. I got what the point is when the play came into the end. There was a conversation between Tom and Joy, but they were not in the stage, they talked about that they have to be very strong to keep their relationship run well although they separated in long distance.
